Isolates were selected from a collection of Paenibacillus strains from raw and pasteurized milk. These isolates were tested for the ability to grow at cold temperatures (6 and 10 degrees Celsius) in two media (Brain Heart Infusion Broth and Skim Milk Broth) and characterized accordingly. Whole genome sequences were compared to determine the genetic qualifiers for psychrotolerance in Paenibacillus spp.
